Weapons sold at Don's Guns linked to later crimes | The Indianapolis Star | IndyStar.com

Weapons sold at Don's Guns linked to later crimes | The Indianapolis Star | IndyStar.com: "Don Davis, the colorful local gun-shop owner who 'just loves to sell guns,' is under scrutiny again, not for how many guns he sells, but for who ends up with them.

For the second time in recent years, a statistical analysis cited Don's Guns and Galleries in Indianapolis as a leading purveyor of guns later linked to crimes.

An investigation by The Washington Post found Don's ranked third among the country's firearm retailers, with 1,910 crime-related guns traced back to the shop in the past four years.

An earlier study by a gun-control organization found that Don's ranked second in such sales from 1996 to 2000, with 2,294 guns turning up illegally."

Fifth bookies robbed in days - Glasgowgangland.com

Fifth bookies robbed in days - Glasgowgangland.com: "PAISLEY cops have been swapping notes with officers in Glasgow after a fifth betting shop was robbed at gunpoint.

It’s thought the gunman has stolen a total of £2,500 from the bookmakers shops he has targeted, which all lie within a radius of eight miles.
Detective Inspector Pat Campbell told the Paisley Daily Express: “We are following a number of lines of inquiry. However, it would appear that these robberies may have been carried out by the same man."

Evroy Barth’s remorse over confronting another man with a loaded gun The BVI Beacon

The BVI Beacon: "Citing “extraordinary circumstances” and Evroy Barth’s remorse over confronting another man with a loaded gun in 2009, Justice Rita Joseph-Olivetti let the 24-year-old avoid prison with a suspended sentence Friday. He could have faced life imprisonment.
A High Court jury found Mr. Barth, a member of the CB4Lyfe rap group, guilty on Oct. 29 of aggravated burglary, possession of a firearm with intent to put in fear, possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life, and possession of explosives.
The charges stemmed from a Feb. 29, 2009 incident in which Mr. Barth confronted Andre Gaymes with a 0.25 calibre firearm at Mr. Gaymes’ Long Bay apartment. Mr. Gaymes, a disc jockey known as “DJ Dre,” was a friend of Jody Miller, who is the mother of Mr. Barth’s child. The two had become intimate, but professed all along to be “just friends,” according to Stephen Daniels, Mr. Barth’s attorney."

Gunshot sensors deployed on Birmingham streets - Hurriyet Daily News and Economic Review

Gunshot sensors deployed on Birmingham streets - Hurriyet Daily News and Economic Review: "Gunshot sensors have been installed for the first time in a UK city in a new approach to tackling gun crime.
Project Safe and Sound in Birmingham uses state-of-the-art technology that records an audio clip of any gunshot fire and sends police its GPS location, helping them decide how to respond, Irish public broadcaster RTE reported Thursday.
The technology can tell if multiple shots were fired, whether they were fired from a stationary or moving location, the number of weapons used, and the order in which they were fired, according to the manufacturers.
West Midlands Police have said that the sensors had been placed high up on buildings in northwestern areas of the city.
“This technology will enable us to respond faster and more effectively to firearms incidents, therefore minimising the harm to local communities and maximising the opportunity to seize illegal firearms, catch offenders and potentially save lives,Ć© said West Midlands Police Chief Chris McKeogh."

Shooting at funeral home may not have been gang feud

Shooting at funeral home may not have been gang feud: "A shooting that killed two men at a funeral this week may not have been related to gang tension as police initially thought.
Officials said Wednesday that further investigation has not been able to support an initial assessment by Chief Dan Isom that the killings were a product of an ongoing feud between gangs in north St. Louis.
'After learning that the parties may have initially become involved in an argument at the funeral, this appears to be, at this point at least, stemming from a personal dispute,' said Erica Van Ross, a Police Department spokeswoman.
The quarrel and subsequent gunfight broke out around noon Tuesday at the service for David 'Bo' Terell Davis at the Reliable Funeral Home, 3958 Washington Boulevard. Davis, of University City, had been shot to death 11 days earlier in St. Louis.
A police account released Wednesday said participants were all attending the funeral when a quarrel broke out and spilled outside, where the shooting began."
