14-year-old boy shot walking to Alvarez football game | thecalifornian.com | The Salinas Californian: "Two boys walking to Friday evening's football game at Everett Alvarez High School were shot at by a fellow teenager, Salinas police said, leaving a 14-year-old hospitalized in the Bay Area in serious condition.

Police said he and a 15-year-old were approached on Nantucket Boulevard at 6:25 p.m. at Newcastle Way, about half a mile from the school, by a black 1990s Honda in stock condition. Officers said a boy about age 14 stepped out of the vehicle and demanded what gang they claimed; when one replied that they weren't affiliated with gangs, the assailant took out a handgun and fired several rounds, striking one boy in the lower torso"
