Rewards offered in gun crimes | The Columbus Dispatch: "New reward money is now available for tips that help get illegal guns off the streets, as part of an expansion of a summer effort to combat crime in Columbus.
The new program, called Gun Stoppers, offers up to $1,000 for a tip that leads to an arrest and the recovery of a gun used in a crime, Mayor Michael B. Coleman said today. The program is affiliated with Central Ohio Crime Stoppers and offers anonymity to tipsters.
Residents have information that can help solve gun crimes, Coleman said. 'We are willing to pay for it.'
The Franklin County Office of Homeland Security and Justice Programs is providing an initial $25,000 for Gun Stoppers."
