Jury convicts gang member of SoCal killing - San Jose Mercury News: "gang member has been convicted of shooting to death an aspiring rapper who stopped in San Bernardino to give him a ride.
A Superior Court jury on Monday found 30-year-old Leonard Lara guilty of first-degree murder and carjacking, as well as special allegations of firing a rifle and committing a crime to benefit a gang. He faces 65 years to life in prison.
Prosecutors say 27-year-old Lorenzo Stotts was behind the wheel of his Isuzu SUV after working at a Wendy's restaurant on June 20, 2007, when he spotted Lara walking down a street and pulled over to offer him a ride.
Lara directed Stotts to a dark area and he was shot in the head and killed."
