Michael Peterson, 19, was arrested at his home in Elmont, N.Y., early Friday, the police said. He faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. He could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted, the district attorney’s office said in a statement.
The police identified the suspect based on descriptions from witnesses. “It looks like there was some sort of dispute between the victim’s brother and the suspect,” said Detective Joseph Cavitolo, a police spokesman.
