Federico J. Cabasos, 23, reported that a vehicle followed him to the end of Palmilla and, as he was turning around, the passenger of the vehicle fired three to four rounds toward Cabasos' SUV.
Cabasos drove away at a high rate of speed, turning onto Plaza Road. Nevarez said there Cabasos and his 15-year-old brother jumped out of the car, jumped a fence and hid behind a tree located at a residence.
The shooter, who followed them, got out of his vehicle and fired two shots at Cabasos' vehicle, hitting the left front tire and left rear quarter panel. A bullet was found in the rear passenger seat of Cabasos' SUV.
The shooter then walked toward the tree where Cabasos and his brother were hiding. Nevarez said the shooter stood approximately 10 feet away from Cabasos and fired two more rounds toward the tree. Cabasos covered his brother's
body with his own, to protect him from getting shot.
No one was injured as a result of the shooting.
