Concern is mounting about the 15 stolen guns that are now on the street and in the wrong hands.
The robbery happened in St. Charles Township at Jerry's Gun Shop northeast of Chesaning on Amman Road.
Gerald Earl Richmond, the owner of the shop, reported the thefts Thursday. Richmond says up to 15 hand guns were stolen, along with ammunition. 'I just about a heart attack because I've been here 30 years and never did I ever have anything like this ever happen. And all they took was hand guns and ammo, and they tore my cash register all apart and took about $300-350.'
Whoever took the guns and ammo broke through the window to get in and pried the back door of the shop to get out. The alarm system was also disabled and the alarm box is missing, so that leads police to think it was someone who knew what they were doing.
'They took the burglary alarm and tore it off the wall, and I haven't found it yet. It musta went off because they took it and pulled it right off the wall and pulled the wires right out of it,' Richmond said.
The store did not have a security camera."

If convicted of armed violence, the most serious charge he previously faced, Roohani could have been sentenced to between six and 30 years in prison.
McHenry County Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Combs declined to comment on whether Roohani fired the shot that struck a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer with five people inside April 23.
Charges remain pending against Scott M. Treece, 22, of Lake in the Hills. Treece’s case is due in court April 15.
Shortly after the incident, Huntley police said Roohani and Treece tried to rob five people who allegedly were selling drugs from an SUV parked behind Armanetti’s Liquor Store at 9714 Route 47.
Police said the pair wore bandanas over their faces as they approached the SUV, and Roohani used a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun to shoot the SUV’s windshield as the driver tried to leave. No one was injured.
Roohani will receive credit for the time he spent in custody since April 26 while his case was pending.
He was on parole for a 2008 residential burglary conviction from Kane County at the time of the incident"

Tyrik Upchurch, 22, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and possession of an instrument of crime on what was to have been the first day of his trial in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court.
Judge Sandy L.V. Byrd accepted the plea deal and immediately sentenced Upchurch in the Oct. 14, 2007 shooting of Jujuan Hinton, 27.
Assistant District Attorney Thomas Lipscomb told the judge that Hinton was in a hack cab in the 2800 block of Wharton Street when Upchurch walked up and fired six shots, hitting Hinton five times.
Hinton survived and, in a hospital interview, identified Upchurch as his shooter, Lipscomb said. However, Hinton later recanted and said he did not know why he was targeted.
Upchurch's new sentence will run concurrently with a five- to 10-year term begun in 2008 after he was convicted in another gang-related shootout on March 25, 2007. In that incident, two girls ages 9 and 12 were wounded in cross fire in the 1400 block of South Etting Street.
The jury acquitted Upchurch of involvement in the shooting but convicted him of witness intimidation, Lipscomb said."
